Celebrate Heritage and Honor Service at the South Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade 2025

Join us on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, for the much-anticipated annual South Boston St. Patrick's Day / Evacuation Day Parade, a vibrant celebration of Irish heritage and a tribute to the service of the United States Armed Forces. The parade sets off at 1pm from Broadway Station, weaving through the heart of South Boston to showcase a dazzling array of floats, bands, and community groups, all adhering to the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and Evacuation Day.

  • Date: Sunday, March 17th, 2024
  • Starting Point: Broadway Station

Code of Conduct:

The South Boston Allied War Veterans Council (SBAWVC) is dedicated to ensuring a family-friendly atmosphere that honors our community’s values and the day's significance. All parade participants and attendees are expected to follow the Code of Conduct, which prohibits political agendas, protests, inappropriate language, attire, and the unauthorized distribution of materials. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, reflecting the true spirit of the day's celebrations.

Getting There:

Public transportation is highly recommended due to limited parking and street closures. The MBTA Red Line offers convenient access to Broadway and Andrew Stations, the start and end points of the parade route, with rush hour service to accommodate attendees. Alternative transportation includes detoured bus routes and a free shuttle service from South Station to East 1st Street in South Boston. Check MBTA.com for updates and service advisories.

Best Places to Watch:

  • For a lively experience with restaurants and crowds: Broadway, between Broadway Station and L Street.
  • To avoid the crowds: Medal of Honor Park, Thomas Park, or any less crowded street along the parade route.

Parade Route:

The parade journey begins at Broadway Station, moves up West Broadway to East Broadway, takes a right on P Street, then a right onto East 4th Street. It continues left onto K Street, right onto East 5th St, left onto G Street, and follows around South Boston HS onto Thomas Park. Finally, it descends Telegraph Street, turns left onto Dorchester Street, and concludes at Andrew Square.
