The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’S Day Parade, Connecticut’S Largest Single-Day Event, Attracts Over 325,000 People Annually. Established In 1842 And One Of New England'S Oldest, This Parade Is A Deep-Rooted Tradition In New Haven, Symbolizing Irish Heritage And Community Spirit.
Historically A Form Of Irish Defiance Against British Rule, The Parade Has Evolved Through Various Eras, Including Civil War Years And Periods Without Parades. Revived In 1955, It'S Now A Vibrant Celebration Of Cultural Diversity And Unity.
Managed By A Committee Of About 100 Volunteers From Sponsoring Irish Clubs, The Parade Is A Testament To The Enduring Irish-American Spirit. Funded Through Donations And Corporate Sponsorships, It'S A Major Community-Driven Event, Organized By The Associated Irish Societies, Inc., A 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization.
